Newcastle under Lyme Festival is an annual event, organised by volunteers, which provides a valuable performance opportunity in speech, drama, and music. We aim to provide a well organised and enjoyable festival; a platform for amateur performers of any age, from far or near, to demonstrate their talents.

A Word

from the Chair

Dear All,

We are getting excited about our Festival in 2022 and really hope that nothing stops it going ahead! Thank you to you all for your patience in 2020 when we had to cancel the Music weekend, and in 2021 when we ran a Virtual Festival for soloists, but not groups.

The Virtual Festival was well-supported and we were fortunate to have four excellent adjudicators who presented clear and helpful written and video adjudications.  Our competitors performed at a very high standard and the adjudicators were impressed with the overall standard.

The class adjudications are still available to watch on the Festival YouTube channel A list of 2021 winners is on the website and, on the ‘stories’ section you can see photos of some of the winners with their certificates.

Festival 2022 will see a few changes. The Speech and Drama Festival will take place at Clayton Academy, using their excellent Drama studio, at the same time as the Music Festival. A new venue has been located at St. Luke’s Methodist Church, Clayton and will be used for some of the Music Classes.

We would be very pleased to welcome new Festival committee members. We also need to recruit several volunteers to help to run the Festival on 18-19 March 2022. If you would like to get involved with the Festival, either as a committee member or a volunteer, please let me know. The roles are many and varied.

I hope that you will continue to support the Festival in any way that you can.
