Newcastle under Lyme Festival is an annual event, organised by volunteers, which provides a valuable performance opportunity in speech, drama, and music. We aim to provide a well organised and enjoyable festival; a platform for amateur performers of any age, from far or near, to demonstrate their talents.
from the Chair
Dear Festival Supporters,
The Festival Committee have been busy ‘behind the scenes’ and the Festival is now a CIO, with a new charity number. This should not affect how we run the festival.
We would like to thank all of you who completed survey forms in 2023. There were many helpful ideas and we have taken note of them when planning our 2024 syllabus. A change, that has been made as a result of the survey, is to use only one venue this year. We have also adapted the competition class titles so that, for Vocal, Instrumental, and Speech & Drama, more classes are organised according to school year groups. Please let us have your feedback about how that works.
The Committee are very grateful to those of you who act as volunteers during the festival, and we are always seeking more helpers. We are also looking for volunteers with IT expertise and/or administrative skills.
Please publicise the Festival whenever, and wherever, you can and also encourage soloists, small groups, instrumental ensembles and choirs to enter.
As a forward notice, the Festival reaches its Centenary in 2031 and we have started to collect historical information. If you are able to help with this, or would like to be involved in the research, please let me know.
I hope to see many of you in March 2024 at our Festival.
With best wishes,
